look good to impress your boss

Whether your purpose is to get a promotion, have a good working environment, keep your job or fulfill that need to belong.. impressing the boss is always the best thing to do. Here I list some simple, legitimate ways that would get your boss to notice you and think you’re a wonderful living creature!

learn everything

Learn

Formal education taught you the basics of whatever field you are pursuing and your boss might just tell you the things you need to know to get the job done.

Wouldn’t it be great to learn how to get every task right? You can ask your boss or your seniors about unwritten tips so you can work more efficiently.

Always have an open mind and a keen ear for learning. Be a sponge and absorb the lessons that your boss, your colleagues or your experience will teach you along the way as you work.

Your boss will definitely be happy with your development.

Treat the Company Like it’s Your Own

You must not just do your job for the sake of working. Treat your company as if it were yours. This way, you’ll seek to develop the company. You might discover loopholes and problems in your company, look for solutions for these problems and raise them up to your boss. Present them in a polite and short email and don’t sound too forcy with them.

Take Responsibility

Employees commit mistakes, which is a normal thing. When you commit mistakes, take responsibility and admit it. Don’t give excuses and make up reasons to blame for your incompetence. Admit your mistake, apologize, and promise to never do it again. This is a very mature thing to do, and this will definitely impress your boss. Taking full responsibility would also mean delivering your promise. It would be a big turn off to your boss if you break your big mouth promises.

Establish Teamwork

Volunteer to help your colleague or your team. If you are done with your job and if you can do a little extra for the team or the company, then by all means go ahead. Just make sure your coworkers don’t abuse your help and make you do their job instead. Being a team player always impresses the boss.

This doesn’t mean being a team player only at work, go out with your coworkers for a happy hour once in awhile.

Keep a Positive Attitude

When things are not doing well, people tend to look for a beacon of light for hope, like superheroes. Now, you don’t need to be a superhero or a saint, you can simply have that positive attitude that could lift up the spirit and boost the morale of your co-workers. This will definitely be a plus for your boss. But how do you show you have this trait? Smile, find fun and show off your wit in stressful times, and always look good.

be a leader

Be a Leader

The boss is usually impressed to employees who have the initiative and can work on their own. Say your team is struggling in finishing up a project: if you have an idea to get over a hump, share it with your team and initiate to layout a plan of action. List action items and assign a person to each item. Don’t forget to assign an item or two for you too. If your team realizes that your doing the part, they are more likely to do theirs too. Be a leader by example.
