Winter Beauty

While winter is a time to bundle up under coats and sweaters, the only thing that you don’t have to hide is your beauty. Some makeup looks work well with holidays, and others are perfect with winter neutral sweaters. Here are some  winter hairstyles and makeup looks  that will keep your face warm and glowing throughout the cold winter months.

Soft Hair Do’s

Loose Side Braid Hairstyle A soft, romantic hairdo is a great way to frame your face and work with a long winter coat. One traditional hairstyle that can flatter any face shape is the loose braid. The braid can go straight down your back, or can be tossed over one shoulder to compliment pea coat or a down jacket. If you wish to wear your hair loose, mermaid waves are perfect. Curl your hair with a large barrel curling iron, or braid your hair and apply light gel before removing the braids. Mermaid waves work well for any ‘do, and liven up your turtleneck sweaters. Makeup for Romance

Winter is great for bold lips. Try a red shade, such as plum or deep pink or purple. A bold lip look will help to make your look, and will draw attention to your puckers during those winter time cuddles and smooches in front of the fire.

Product we love: NARS Sheer Lipstick Manhunt

With a bold lip, you want to have a soft eye shadow as to soften the face. Soft, candlelit eye makeup is a good way to create a beautiful eye match with your bold lips. Candlelit eye looks use soft, thin eyeliner along with several champagne, golden, and light brown eye shadows. We love Urban Decay’s Naked Palette. Don’t forget to pump up your eyelashes, by using falsies or a volumizing and lengthening mascara. Try Smashbox Full Exposure Mascara.

If you wish to go for a muted pink or nude lipstick look, go for an olive and lavender eye shadow look to draw the attention to your pretty peepers. Use lavender shadow for the lids and an olive near the brow bone to come up with a soft, whimsical look for those long winter nights. bareMinerals READY Eyeshadow: The Dream Sequence has the perfect shade for this look.
